Falloween Social

Student Post-Social Reports

The Falloween social is a week or two prior to Halloween. It's a themed social unlike the Trivia or Disco social because people dress up in costumes and interact in Halloween themed events. There are many different events in the social such as the Costume parade with awards, the Volleyball tournament, and the legendary Pie Eating Contest.

At the social, we began by interacting with other people and having snacks and cookies. After some time, we went outside to play Sharks and Minnows in the field outside the orchestra doors. Something funny I remember from this social is when the Librarian team dressed up as the Afro's theme for our year's retro theme and they casually walked across the field only to all get tagged together.

After Sharks and Minnows, we were able to split into three groups - people who had signed up for the volleyball tournament, people who went inside for Halloween crafts like pumpkin decorating, and people who stayed outside and played with a ball in the band parking lot. My favorite part of the social event is when we went outside and played with the ball in the parking lot because the weather at that time of the year is great in the evening, and it was a good amount of time to volley the kickball to each other and play other games like Nukem and Four Square.

After coming inside the Costume Parade began. We were able to see many different groups of people dress up in costumes they had or even made - like my favorites: the Mega Knight and Crow costumes. Following the costume parade began the Pie Eating Contest: After a few extreme moments of a student from each pod representing their pod, Ahmed, for the fourth time in a row destroyed the competition with extreme speed as he had told me in class a few hours prior.

I would recommend this social to other students especially if they dress up in a costume. Joining the costume parade, having snacks with friends, and going outside (unlike most socials) is extremely fun to socialize and have fun with friends.

Falloween social was honestly so much more fun than I could have ever experienced. It was my first time going, but it was extremely fun! I never went to this social event because I honestly didn’t know what we would do, and I was worried it wouldn’t be as fun because a lot of my friends didn’t go. However, when I went for the first time this year, it was an amazing experience! Our officer group did a matching Afro Disco theme, and the whole costume design was just amazing. We were super cool, and we just had so much fun talking with each other, playing volleyball, doing a pie eating contest, and so much more. It was honestly my favorite social of the school year so far, as I had so much fun just playing around, and being free from academic rigor. There were so many treats as well, so I definitely wasn’t left hungry while playing volleyball. Beyond just my officer group, I had so much fun with my friends as well. I felt like with this social, I was able to get closer to a lot of new people and get closer to some pre-existing friends.

The Falloween social was really really fun. It’s a really fun way to get into the Halloween spirit before Halloween. I didn’t know that many people at the social but I made a lot of friends and it gave me an opportunity to socialize with other kids in the orchestra program there was a pie contest, which was really fun to watch and I’m sure it was fun to participate into, the participants got to eat an entire pie and had to do it in record time which was really interesting. We also got to paint a pumpkin, which I thought was really fun and a really unique way to get your creativity out and decompress. there was also a ton of food, which was really delicious and they had cupcakes, cookies, and basically everything good that you can think of. We also got to go outside and enjoy the weather and me and my friends played volleyball which I thought was really fun especially since I never get to play volleyball with my orchestra classmates. I definitely would recommend this social to others because it’s a great way to make new friends and also get closer to your friends while also having a lot of fun and getting into the Halloween spirit. I feel like the social is really fun and it’s also like cool to see all the officers and meet like all the new people.

Personally, I just moved here so I didn’t know that many people but the social helped me interact with more people and make more friends so I definitely recommend it.
